How to Purchase Custom Golf Clubs Online

Most people haven't. But consider this: would you buy shoes without specifying a size? When you buy your golf clubs off the shelf you will get a standard set in terms of lie angle, shaft length, shaft flex, and grip. This may not be the best setup for you.

The four main factors in determining your correct club fitting is:

Height

Arm length

Hand size

Swing speed

Your height and arm length will determine your lie angle. Hand size will determine the grip size. And swing speed will determine the shaft flex that is right for you. When buying off the shelf, shaft flex is typically the only option you have control over.

I recently purchased a custom club, to share with you the process of ordering custom fitted golf clubs online. I was very impressed with the procedure.

If you already have been previously fitted and know your specs, then you can proceed directly to the purchase option. I had not so I chose the option to submit the information to their club fitting pro. In addition to the above, ski school such as age, yearly rounds, ball flight trajectory, and ball flight pattern are requested. They recommend that if you are unsure then it is best to leave your answer blank.

You will be asked what club you use for a shot of 150 yards. This will help in determining the best shaft flex for you. The higher number club you use typically translates to a faster swing speed. If you possess a fast swing speed then a stiff flex shaft will most often suit you best.

A measurement needs to be taken for the distance from your wrist to the floor. You need to stand straight with your arms straight down. If you are alone, you can stand by a wall and make a small mark in pencil then ski school the distance. It is important to get this right, and you are recommended to wear shoes while taking the measurement.

After submitting the form, I received the following information.

My fittings were for a standard length shaft, +1 degree lie, stiff shaft flex, and standard grips.

My recommendations were pretty standard except for the +1 degree lie angle. I'm sure my height of 6'2" and the wrist measurement taken above influenced that. Armed with my custom specifications I was ready to order.

Upon deciding to accept the above recommendations, the ordering process was a snap.

Golf is a hard enough game with the right equipment. With equipment not fitted for you, it's a battle you may have a tough time overcoming.

While all online custom golf club makers may not follow the above steps exactly, the vast majority should be compiling the same general information.
